nuclear disaster, i was asked to make a poster for the devo show at the warfield theatre in san francisco. the image was a japanese girl, wearing a nuclear t shirt, with the kanji character for earth tattooed on her shoulder. she was dead. i called her sue nami. and much to my surprise, the band liked it. read captions below the photos for the rest of the story. <img The project would entail a numbered run of unique, hand made silkscreen posters, designed by a new artist and printed by a custom silkscreen house for each and every venue on the tour. 20 artists for 21 shows in 30 days... I agreed, but naturally decided to heavily procrastinate until the last possible moment, before drinking 3 red bulls and reaching out to a group of friends, all highly creative and partially insane like myself. I asked them, one by one, if they were interested in doing a Primus poster and it was surprisingly unanimous, other than one anonymous party who told me to "Go eat a bag of dicks.." Next step was lining up 9 different silkscreen print houses, all spread out from Oakland to Minnesota, and one 19th century hand press, to handle crafting our art into a poster series.
