The Scoop
After 6 months of wonderfully tedious work with the exemplary team at Bigshot Toyworks, we're ready to release "Our Ambiguous and Immaculate Lady of Armageddon & Natural Disaster, Sue Nami."Sue Nami was first unearthed in 2011, during the tragic Fukushima meltdown, while working on a poster for DEVO. From there, she took on a life of her own and her story continues to evolve. You can read her story here.
The Details
This is a very limited edition 9" Polystone Resin statue. Polystone is a compound made up of resin and powdered limestone, which gives it a durable and tangible, heavyweight porcelain-like finish. Each sculpture weighs just under 5 pounds and ships securely, in a laser cut foam insert, sealed inside of a fancy-pants box.Because we are insane, each sculpture is composed of 6 individual pieces, hand-cast, hand-assembled, hand-painted and hand-finished... Handy, right? Sue's braids are metal re-enforced.
A hand screen-printed felt base helps to prevent surface scratching and secure her footprint.
Each sculpture is individually serial numbered and has a custom UPC code. Sculptures are retail boxed, ship with a fancy holographic sticker and are only available online exclusively at Zoltron.com.
Multiple painting techniques were used to achieve the finish, everything from hand painting, to airbrushing and transparent shadows washes. We used various sheens, matte paints, gloss and semi-gloss finishes.
Sculptures ship with corresponding, and as of yet unreleased, silkscreen Sue Nami & Bigshot Toyworks stickers printed by the heavies at Sticker Robot.

March 15 2019, Kid Robot® Exclusive Tattoo Edition of 50

I partnered with Frank Kozik and the heavies at Kid Robot for this version of Sue Nami, our sacred Lady of Armageddon V3. Frank and the team at KR liked this old piece that me and my friend Ross made together, where Sue was covered in Tattoos.
So naturally I called on my old friend & fellow mischief-maker, Ross Jones to handle the flash art for Sue Nami V3. Ross and I discussed her vibe, Americana style, with a penchant for water and storm based ink and he got to stippling.
The crew at Bigshot Toyworks worked their magic and we created an exclusive edition of 50 for the Kid Robot Release, which went doen today, March 15th at Kidrobot.com.
Ok. Cool bro... So exactly how many of these girls were made and what the hell is this "Mystery Edition" we keep hearing about ?
Good question. I'm glad I asked.... We made a very precise number of 250 of these Resin statues, split into several color ways. There were 100 of the Yellow Nuclear edition, 50 of the Black Angst edition, 50 of the Kid Robot Tattoo edition, which leaves us with 50 remaining.
Those were then split into the smallest someday-to-be-released-most-likely-at-an-art-show "Mystery Edition" edition, various prototypes and painted test pieces and finally a small number of unpainted, unassembled units which will be fun to customize one day. That's it.
